Ruth Butler has been appointed as a trustee of the Pallant House Gallery in Chichester.

Pallant House is a leading Modern British Art museum in the distinctive setting of an 18th century townhouse and a 21st century gallery in the heart of historic Chichester.

Ruth has recently commenced her four-year tenure as trustee.  Her appointment is very timely for the gallery as they have received Arts Council funding to develop their adjoining historic coach house into a new Collections Centre.  Ruth will bring client-side expertise to the three-year project, using her experience as both an RIBA Client Adviser and practicing architect.

The Coach House Project continues Pallant House’s legacy of working with distinctive buildings. The main Pallant House Gallery is contained within a Grade I listed 18th century Queen Anne townhouse.  In the 20th century, the Coach House became a separate private residence but by the completion of this project, the two historic buildings will be reunited.

The Coach House project will create an interactive gallery space, making the collection more publicly available and a staff area among many major changes.  You can read about the project here.

“I’m really enjoying working with the Pallant House team on the Coach House Project. It brings together my love of modern art with my RIBA Client Adviser role.  Hopefully I’m in a perfect position to help this local renowned art museum achieve their growth plans and share the love of art with even more people.”
