Community Projects

My community work encompasses culture, heritage, education, health and leisure and embraces a holistic approach to well being…

Health & Leisure

My passion for health & leisure is focused on community facilities and embraces a holistic approach to wellbeing. My work covers community mental health, lifetime homes advice, extensions and refurbishments, community sports and leisure facilities.

Recent health & leisure projects include: Community sports pavilion; Physical Education and Sports Client Advice; mental health hospital redevelopment.

The new building slots itself neatly alongside the railway … the long west elevation that faces the park is already helping to transform the area

Education

My expertise in the field of education goes back some 20 years, during which time I have designed and delivered a full spectrum of education projects, from higher education and further education, primary and secondary schools, through to special needs schools and nursery buildings.

Recent education projects include: St Mary Magdalene Through School on the Greenwich Peninsula; staff accommodation at Beadales School; St George’s Neighbourhood Nursery in Brighton.

The children at St John’s now have an amazing space to use and it will enhance the learning experience for many years to come. I hope all your future projects are equally successful.

Heritage

My approach to re-use of existing buildings is at the heart of a commitment to addressing climate change. Carbon reductions can be achieved through good design that combines conservation, a fabric-first approach to energy-efficiency, evidence-based ecological design and thoughtful specification of materials.  This achieves reduced running costs and carbon emissions with improved comfort, health and well-being for all users.

I led the following recent projects while at Pritchard Architecture:  Seven Sisters Country Park (conversion and deep retrofit of ten listed buildings); Crofters (step-by-step retrofit of a heritage property); Furzey Gardens, a social enterprise for learning disabled adults (masterplan for extension and deep retrofit of listed buildings).
