Hampshire Passivhaus shortlisted for CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2018
What has Hampshire Passivhaus got in common with The Aquatics Centre on the Queen Elizabeth Park, London; a Healthy Office in Warsaw, Poland; and Tower 3 in Melbourne Australia?
We’ve all been shortlisted in the prestigious CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2018.
About the CIBSE Building Performance Awards 2018
The Awards, now in their eleventh year, recognise the people, products and projects that demonstrate engineering excellence in the built environment. They are the only industry Awards that focus on actual, measured performance, rather than design intent or performance specifications.
Hampshire Passivhaus, a joint project by engineering company Cundall* and Ruth Butler Architects, has been shortlisted in the Residential Project of the Year category, which
“recognises the new build or refurbishment of a building within the Residential sector that most effectively demonstrates high levels of user satisfaction and comfort and delivers outstanding measured building performance, energy efficiency and reduced carbon emissions”.
As part of submission we had to provide a project synopsis of the project and its building performance objectives, focusing on low carbon, energy efficiency and the health and wellbeing of occupants. This had to be backed by one year’s evidence of measured building performance and energy use data.
Tough competition
In the words of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)
“The Awards attracted a high quality of entries and a diverse selection of projects, companies, and products. Our 2018 judges found it particularly hard to single out the winning entries this year. Those that were successful had included detailed evidence to demonstrate actual measured performance and not just design intent or performance specifications. The shortlisting decisions were reached only after considerable debate and careful scrutiny of the entries”.
Winners from the shortlisted entries will be announced at the 2018 CIBSE Building Performance Awards Dinner, Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane on 6 February 2018.
*Cundall are an engineering consultancy offering a full range of integrated engineering services over the entire life cycle of any building project.
