Passivhaus Open Weekend Success

We’re just recovering from a very successful Passivhaus open weekend, having welcomed around 100 visitors to our house over a 3-day period.

passivhaus open weekend 2017

We threw open our doors as part of the International Passivhaus Weekend, to inspire homeowners, businesses and council / community organisations to think about environmentally friendly building options in the future.  We conducted building tours and shared performance data and Passivhaus costs.

This is the third year we have held an open house, (the house was built in 2015 so we’ve managed to do it every year so far) and the turnout was double that of last year. Very promising for the future of passivhaus building.

Visitors came from near and far – some on the train from London, others a walk away in our local community.  Attendees included representatives from a Stirling Prize winning school, contractors, self-builders, local authorities policy makers and universities, to those just interested in finding out what the fuss was all about.

With such a range of visitors we had an array of questions to answer over the 3 days, some extremely technical regarding the build and energy performance, others simply wanting to understand what a passivhaus was.

We had some great feedback from the visitors as well as some enquiries for new projects:

Fabulous! Want one!!

Wondrous! Thank you.

Thank you for the marvellous tour.

Very many thanks for a really good tour.

After all that hectic activity we are looking forward to a quiet family weekend this weekend with just us and our passivhaus cat…..
