Hampshire Passivhaus wins Structural Timber Awards 2018

Hampshire Passivhaus has won Low Energy Project of the Year category at the 2018 Structural Timber Awards.

The award was announced on 10th October 2018.

About the Structural Timber Awards 2018

The Structural Timber Awards reward the very best in structural timber construction, showcasing innovative solutions and ground-breaking developments from across the UK timber industry. Each year, over 500 construction professionals gather at the prestigious award ceremony, this year at the National Conference Centre, Birmingham in October. With over 200 outstanding submissions received annually, the Structural Timber Award judges have an onerous job of selecting the winners.

Hampshire Passivhaus, by Ruth Butler Architects, won the Low Energy Project of the Year category. Entries in this category:

“…should showcase in an understandable, measurable way how timber as a building material – either structurally, externally or internally – can be exploited to its maximum potential to drive forward the concept of low-carbon building design. Special emphasis will be placed on measuring embodied carbon and carbon reduction levels, use of certified timber, whole-life costs, the benefits of using Fabric First and Passivhaus principles and employing an integrated approach to sustainable and green building design.”.
